Pedal through the Sierra de Espadán, a protected nature reserve at about 50 km from Valencia.
Drive through colorful mountains of red sandstone, through valleys full of cork oaks. Discover picturesque white villages and 'hidden treasures' like waterfalls, aqueducts, Moorish castles or springs.
You cycle at your own pace. Make yourself comfortable with an E-bike and cycle easily uphill. Or tighten your muscles on a sporty hybrid bike.
We will provide a 'video guide'; a tablet with all kinds of videos about the region and sights along the way. In this way, you get an explanation 'on the spot' with spoken comments (in English or Spanish).
Depending on your physical condition, you make it yourself easier choosing a different starting point, which means you will have to climb less or more.
In summer you can swim on fantastic (public) swimming pools or at splendid swimming spots in rivers and waterfalls! As an extra, we can also organize a kayak or paddle surf activity.
Or you climb under the guidance of an instructor along with a Via Ferrata, a secured climbing course where you are constantly attached via a steel cable. Also suitable for children from 8 years!
We take you from Valencia to the starting point, provide the bikes, helmets, a bicycle bag and a route description.
Along the way you will find a number of villages to stop for a drink or to eat.
This route is suitable for anyone with a normal physical ondition and some cycling experience.
A part of the trip goes downhill, and then it is important that you can brake quietly in turns and keep your balance.
You can also book a fully organized multi-day trip, where you stay overnight in hotels or B & B's on the way.
You can start the daytour at various places, depending on the desired distance and whether you want to ride a lot or a little uphill.
The distances are 27km, 34km, 44km or 53 km.
The endpoint for the day tour is the village of Fuentes de Ayodar. Here you can visit the 'Pozo Negro', a number of beautiful waterfalls and pools carved in red/purple sandstone.
To get there you have to cycle or walk about 2.5 km extra, on a gravel road.
If you opt for a 2-day trip, the endpoint is the mountain village of Fanzara, known for its 'urban art museum', with around 100 outdoor works.
The 3-day trip passes through the caves of St. Joseph (with the longest navigable subterranean river in Europe )and ends at Eco-hotel 'Mar de Fulles' in Alfondeguila. A brand new hotel with a special sustainable philosophy and a fantastic slow-food restaurant. Most guests extend their stay here because it's a place that you never want to leave...
De 5-day tour starts end ends in the city of Valencia, following either the coastline or the endless fields of orange trees and the 'Horta Nord'.
At the endpoint, you will be met by our driver and taken back to your hotel in Valencia/Sagunto.
The route runs on local roads, with hardly any traffic. The road (asphalt) is in good condition and sometimes goes uphill, sometimes downhill. Sometimes you especially need your pedals, sometimes only your brakes :)
You will receive a map and description of the sights along the way.
At some points, you can deviate from the route, for example, to visit a waterfall or castle (ruins). A number of attractions can be reached by bike (via smaller roads), others only on foot.
