Tour Summary

Explore the former mining railway of Ojos Negros. From Valencia we take you to Barracas or Albentosa (1000m above sealevel) to enjoy the most beautiful part of Spain's longest Vía Verde. The track is famous because of the numerous tunnels, bridges and deserted stations, in an ever-changing and spectacular scenery. And it's an easy ride: almost all the way downhill!

In summer you can go for a swim in (municipal) swimming pools close to the trail. At the end of the tour you can cool down under a waterfall of 30 meters high!

The bikes are provided by us. The main part of the trip goes downhill and is therefore also suitable for children. We provide directions, you can't get wrong.

You'll find nice picnic areas and some villages on the route, where you can stop for a drink or a snack.

Optionally, we put your private picnic table on a very nice spot along the track...

You can also book a completely organised 2,3 or 5 day tour, following the entire railway from it's starting point in Ojos Negros.

Call +34 677 709 109 for more information. We speak English, German, Dutch and Spanish.

We leave Valencia at about 09.00am. In summer we can adapt the route, passing by a (public) swimming pool and a waterfall with natural pools to go for a swim! The cycling distance is 40 km by default. (Optionally 32 or 55 km) Or we leave in the afternoon, avoiding the heat at midday.

The transfer from Valencia to the starting point takes about 1 hour by car or 1,5 hours by train. On your way you'll already enjoy the dramatic change in scenery. We drop you off at Barracas, one of the highest points at about 1000 meters above sea level. Here you are surrounded by mountains, though the surface is plane. After a few kilometres you reach a wind farm with huge windmills. From there it's almost all the way downhill. The path is literally cut through the red sandstone mountains and follows ravines, passes deserted railway stations, beautiful bridges and tunnels.

The first village on your way is Caudiel, where you can stop for a snack or lunch in a local bar. Then onwards to Jerica, another village with terraces to have a drink, tapa or lunch. And finally Navajas, a pretty village famous for its modernist buildings and spectacular waterfall 'Salto de la Novia'. If there's time left, you can visit the waterfall or even plunge into the Palancia river gorge.

Optionally we can take you to Sarrion, about 20km further inland. There you cross the spectacular bridge over the Albentosa canyon and one of the longest tunnels.
