CYCLING WITH KIDS

SAFELY WITH YOUR CHILDREN THROUGH THE CITY AND NATURE

Description

Both the city and the Region of Valencia have great places to cycle safely with your children. Let us take you there!

During this completely organized holiday, you cycle in various areas, both in the city and in the hinterland of Valencia. You drive as much as possible on bike paths or low-traffic roads.

Along the way, there are also a number of nice museums or theme parks to visit.

You cycle through very different areas; the mountains, orange plantations or the coastal plain. We take care of the necessary transport from one area to another, arrange your accommodation and also transport your luggage.

You spend the night with your family in vacation apartments or holiday homes.

Depending on the age of your children, we can make the stages shorter or longer. Children from 1 year old can participate in a chair on the back of the bike or in a bicycle trailer.

For children from 5 years (with a normal condition), it is possible to cycle the routes yourself.

Moreover, with tired kids legs, you can always order our bicycle taxi!

Then we will bring you back to your accommodation.

You cycle on your own, using our route guidance, available in English. (or optional GPS navigation).

Itinerary

Below you find the schedule for an entire week. Do you have less time, special wishes or you'd like to extend your stay?

Let us know, we can adapt the program.

Day 1: Arrival in Valencia

From Valencia airport, we take you to your apartment, on the edge of the kilometre-long city park through the riverbed of the Turia.

Around the corner, you will find a shopping centre and the Oceanografico (the sea aquarium with dolphin shows) and children's playground Gulliver.

Day 2: Turia park (10 - 25 km)

Today you will explore the enormous Turia city park by bicycle. This is a car-free zone of no less than 8 kilometres long, in an old riverbed. You will cycle past the science museum, IMAX cinema, children's playground Gulliver, the Oceanografico (sea aquarium) and you can also visit the Bioparc zoo (just outside the park).

You can also refresh your traffic knowledge in the traffic training park.

You spend the night in Valencia.

Day 3: Horta Nord and Valencia beach (15-25 km)

The beach of Valencia is kilometres long, and there is a beautiful bike path along. You drive northwards and end up in the 'Horta'; the vegetable garden of the city. This is a special agricultural area with small farmhouses and old irrigation channels. Across the fields are nice roads and cycle paths. On the way, you can stop to taste 'Horchata', a local drink made from groundnuts that are grown in the Horta.

You spend the night in Valencia.

Day 4: Via Verde / Navajas (20-40 km)

We take you to the mountains, up to 1000 meters above the sea. There is a cycle path over an old railway line. You drive past old train stations, over railway bridges and through a number of tunnels The route goes almost completely downhill. Nice and easy! Along the way are many picnic areas, with scenic views over the mountains.

You spend the night in a holiday home or B & B in the village of Navajas.

You can also visit a huge waterfall, in a gorge just outside the village.

You can extend your stay in Navajas, to cycle an extra day on the Via Verde.

Day 5: Sierra de Espadán (15-25 km)

Today a trip through the Sierra de Espadán, a special mountain area. The rocks are red and purple in colour and you will find special trees: cork oaks.

The ride there - through the mountains - is already an excursion in itself. Once in a beautiful valley, you cycle over quiet roads between the olive trees and you drive through a forest with huge red sandstone cliffs; it looks like a set from a cowboy movie.

From here you can cycle further to Onda, where you can visit a magnificent castle from the 10th century. You spend the night in a holiday apartment in the Sierra, or in an 'eco-hotel' where the vegetables for the restaurant are grown in the garden, in the middle of the mountains. A magical place, where people like to stay extra for a day.

You can extend your stay in the Sierra de Espadán, walk or cycle an extra day, for example to the caves of San Juan, where you can take a boat trip on the longest subterranean river in Europe.

Day 6: Downhill to the sea (15-25 km)

From the Sierra de Espadán, you almost automatically go downhill, straight through the orange groves to the Mediterranean Sea. You can go to the beach or cycle along the coast.

Then we pick you up and take you back to Valencia, where you spend the night near the Turia park.

Day 7: Valencia
